Intentions for a Happier, Healthier New Year

Have you resolved to eat better, or lose weight, or finally stop saying "yes" when you really mean no—and vice versa—when the new year rolls around? You're not alone.  But sometimes resolutions can focus on negative aspects, or feel limiting and restrictive. In a recent article for Kiwanis Magazine, Yoga Roots teacher Nicci Micco writes about a gentler, kinder approach to setting (and succeeding with!) intentions for a happier, healthier new year.

In a nutshell, her advice:

  • Align your goals with your values, and leverage your personal strengths.

  • Find ways to make exercise rewarding and fun.

  • Connect with your community. (We've got a wonderful one here at Yoga Roots!)

  • Nourish yourself with nutritious, delicious foods.

  • Practice being present. (What helps? Yoga! And meditation!)

  • Notice what's good. Find inspiration everywhere.
